The baritone voice sits between the brightness of a tenor and the depth of a bass, typically spanning from A2 to A4. It is the most common male voice type, and baritone roles in opera often portray complex characters — fathers, villains, and antiheroes.
Famous baritone roles include Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Rigoletto in Verdi's opera of the same name, and Don Giovanni in Mozart's masterpiece. Outside opera, the baritone range dominates popular music — most male pop and rock singers are baritones.
